Day 2 - Gremlins

"Signs, signs, everywhere signs!!"

So,  I went for my walk right after writing my blog yesterday morning.  They were calling for rain later on in the day so I thought I better get my butt off the coach and get going.
Put on my walking shoes and away I went.  I had been out for no more then 10 minutes when I was joined by one of my many inner Gremlins.  You know those little voices, inner critics, that we all have, that try to discourage us from accomplishing what we set out to do.

"What the hell...it's freakin cold!!!"
"What's with the weather forecasters in this country?  Is it just me or do they Over Promise and Under Deliver!!"
"We are not ACTUALLY going to walk for an hour in this cold are we?"

Luckily, I realized what was happening and managed to shut him up before I got completely discouraged and turned around and went home.  Sneaky little buggers those inner Gremlins. If you're not careful they completely sabotage your efforts.

Having dealt with him...(or her...don't mean to be sexist), I continued on my merry way.

I still wasn't feeling exactly enthusiastic about the idea of walking for an hour and started entertaining ideas of cutting my walk short.

Enters Gremlin #2:

"How about we take the short route this morning."
" It is after all our first day out in a while. Easing into it might be a good idea."
" Don't want to over due it on the first day.  You're not getting any younger."

Luckily bringing awareness to negative thoughts (our Gremlins) is often like throwing water on the Wicked Witch of the West.  As soon as you do...the thought tends to dissolve and evaporate.  I did realize though that I had not committed to a specific route before I left the house.  I promised myself I would do that the next day, as to not give Gremlin #2 the opportunity to chime in and debate the issue.

And so, I committed to my regular hour route and within a few minutes my stroll through the streets of my neighbourhood actually became quite pleasant.

Somewhere near the half way point, I came upon a sign that said "Just Do It".  Nothing like a little encouragement from the Universe to put a little bounce in your step.  I swear, the minute I dealt with the negative gremlins, I started seeing everything from a different perspective.  I felt more energy and yes, the universe DID seem to be cheering me on.  The sign above, I saw, and took a picture of about on hundred yards from the "Just Do It" sign.

It reminded me of what I posted a few weeks back on my facebook page...

A coincidence.... Me thinks not!

And FYI, I did accomplish everything I had set out to do on my list.  I think holding myself accountable had a lot to do with it.  But, more on that in another post...

Create an awesome day everyone!
Happy Easter Sunday!
Joanne :)

And here is a little something to help You check in on Your Inner Gremlins. ;)
